Well, the fashion gods have declared that skinny jeans are dead. While it might take me a few months (or years!) to wrap my head around that one, I'm already on the lookout for the perfect pair of flares, the style being hailed as "the new denim." The only problem? Finding a pair that fits a five-foot-nothing frame is no easy feat!
With denim cut for the long and leggy, I'm used to having my jeans hemmed on the regular, but no amount of hemming can fix the fit of a flare. That's because a proper fitting flare needs to begin flaring at the knee, but that starting point often falls somewhere around mid-calf on my fellow short girls. You hem the jean, you loose the flare. The only answer, then, is petite-fit denim, but that's nearly impossible to find in stores! What's a girl to do other than cry in a corner in her trusty old skinny jeans?
Not to worry! It turns out there are loads of options online, with everyone from ASOS to Anthropologie stocking the petite flares you just won't find in department stores, including designer favorites like Citizens and Paige. Now, the only questions is will you be giving up your skinnies for good?
