13 Whitewashed Interiors to Lighten Up for Spring

Across nearly every culture, the spring holiday marks a time of renewal, which is the case with Passover in Israel when, apparently, everyone is all in a tizzy whitewashing their homes. Or so my Hebrew teacher says, but her English isn't the best. Frankly, the last time I heard whitewash referenced was when I read Tom Sawyer, so I did some digging to see if it's actually still a thing.

Not only is it still a thing, but whitewash is being used to beautiful effect in both classic and contemporary homes. (Thanks, Pinterest!) The sheer swath of milky color lightens up both wood and brick, floors, doors and cabinets, and gives off a far less stark feel than a coat of white paint.
