Ah, September in Boston! The U-Haul trucks have come and gone, and now we have the renewed joy of drunk college students singing outside our windows at 2 a.m. after a blissfully quiet summer. But as much as we like to rag on the dorm-dwelling masses, at least the new school year brings with it a whole slew of cultural events, like the Excellent Swiss Design exhibit opening tomorrow at MassArt.

Running through November 22 at MassArt's Bakalar Gallery (621 Huntington Ave., Boston), the free exhibit features selections from the Design Prize Switzerland, a biennial award that recognizes advancements in the areas of communication, fashion, furniture, interior, product and textile design. From laser-engraved textiles to a faucet that reduces water consumption by 90% to a running shoe that re-imagines impact through a hollow-core sole, Excellent Swiss Design celebrates ingenuity and sustainability across design disciplines.
