If you thought East Coast city living was cramped, meet the 3x9 House, a project completed by a21studio in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. At 3 meters wide by 9 meters deep, the architecture firm was tasked with renovating an old house in the highly dense city to create a more comfortable and functional space. In total, the home is just 27 square meters, or around 290 square feet.
The house is designed for a middle age woman and her friend, who are inspired by music and beauty of nature. A living tree bursts through the entryway and continues on upstairs to both connect the upper and lower levels and to bring the outdoors in, a goal furthered by massive skylights.
The open floor plan makes the space appear larger than it is, but what do you think? Would you live in a space so tiny if it looked this good?
