With the hoopla surrounding fashion weeks the world over (runway shows, street style and champagne-fueled parties, oh my!), it's easy for something as staid as an installation to fly under the radar. Fortunately, a striking exhibit of haute couture by Elie Saab will remain on display at the Four Seasons George V Hotel in Paris through this weekend.
Curated by hotel creative director Jeff Leatheam (who has quite the knack for floral design), the installation features eight silhouettes from Saab's Autumn/Winter 2013/14 Haute Couture collection. In the lobby, six ruby red and silvery gray evening gowns stand atop mirrored plexiglass podiums encircled by 15,000 red Naomi roses, while a gown of silk tulle and lace paired with a heavily embroidered cape takes center stage beneath a Florentine crystal chandelier.
The most remarkable piece is left to stand on its own at the entrance to the hallway—a tulle wedding gown and matching veil encrusted with semi-precious stones, beads and crystals and surrounded by 9,000 Avalanche roses.
If you're lucky enough to be in Paris this weekend, be sure to check it out... after stuffing your face with macarons and pain au chocolat.
omg that looks heavenly! why can't it be on display in boston instead??????

It would be marvellous to see these gowns up-close. Too bad I wasn't in Paris on the weekend! :-) /Madison
