The French Riviera or the Greek Isles would do just fine, of course, but the Algarve Coast of Portugal jumped to the top of my dream destination list once I saw photos of the Martinhal Beach Resort. Located within a protected national park near the fishing port of Sagres, the design of the place is one part minimalist modern, one part pure luxury, all with a nod to midcentury design. In other words, it's right up my alley.
Perhaps because the resort encompasses so many properties (a hotel, houses, villas), I can't seem to pin down an architect for this project. Does anyone know?
Work definitely gets in the way of every sun soaked opportunity. I really need to be at that beach resort!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, will be attending IFB or Lucky Fabb this year?
I think I've only had one beach day this year too. Maybe 2, I can't remember. This place looks amazing! Would so rather be there than at my desk right now. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteNo, I decided to sit out this NYFW since I've had such a busy summer. :( Have fun, though! I'll be there in spirit.
ReplyDeleteOh hellz yes!! (to staying here, no to the architect) - imagine having it all to yourself?
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Marissa and for your sweet words! Now this is where I should have been recovering from my surgery! Oh to lounge about on the beach or by the pool...sounds just heavenly.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get another beach day and a little time to relax.
Have a fabulous week,
Julie
wow what a gorgeous resort! I love portugal but when I was there I stayed in a youth hostel haha
ReplyDeleteStop it, just stop it! I hate looking at more beautiful vacation spots when I just got back and can't go back for quite some time!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Julie! Same to you. :)
ReplyDeleteThis place is a true paradise... Love the architecture!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, looks like I have a lot to catch up on over here on your blog. I've always wanted to go to Tel Aviv actually, but we've not made it as of yet. I think the designer was Michael Sodeau for this stunning project.
ReplyDeleteI just realized I never responded to you. So sorry! Yes, you should definitely go to Tel Aviv someday, just not in the summer! And thanks for the tip abou the designer. I knew he did the interiors, but I wasn't sure about the architecture.
ReplyDeleteOh no worries! Well I am not certain who the head designer was, but it's from UK firm Conran. Hope that helps if you haven't already found it. Gorgeous place! xo
ReplyDeleteI haven't, so thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful property. I vacationed in Lagos a few years ago. It was August/September and the weather was gorgeous. The Algarve is such a special place...wish I was there now.
