This isn't a ubiquitous awards show; rarely do the stars play it safe for the Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute Gala. This is when they go all-out crazy fashionista on us. So, without further ado, the looks from last night that deserve a double take (again, for better or for worse).
Not-so-mellow-yellow: January Jones in Atelier Versace and Coco Rocha in Vintage Givenchy pull of this hard-to-wear shade with ease.
Costume Institute or costume party? Giovanna Battaglia and Bianca Brandolini d'Adda, both in Dolce & Gabbana
Simply stunning: Camilla Belle in Ralph Lauren and Caroline Trentini in Olivier Theyskens
Quirky couples: The cane makes the outfit for Nicole Miller and Cameron Silver, who wears a custom suit by Miller and carries a vintage Schiaparelli walking stick. On the right is Marc Jacobs wearing lace and pilgrim shoes(!) and Milla Jovovich in Prada.
Va va va volume: Florence Welch in semi-ridiculous McQueen, and Christina Ricci in a dress worthy of Troop Beverly Hills by Thakoon Panichgul
Umm... what? Chloe Sevigny in Miu Mu and Sarah Jessica Parker in Laura Ashely drapes. Oh, I mean Valentino Haute Couture.
Cooler than cool: Ending on a happy note, Hanneli Mustaparta is rocking Calvin Klein. And I have such a girl crush on Stella McCartney and MIA here, both in designs by McCartney.
Did I miss any of your picks for brashest, boldest, most beautiful or just plain bad?
That top pic is amazing. Camilla looked gorg
ReplyDeleteAgreed! I think she was my favorite of the night.
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing the aftermath of the Met Ball! Thanks for taking a moderate position. But for real, Camilla is stunning! I love her makeup color palette with her dress. It really makes it.
ReplyDeleteI sure love Chloe Sevigny! That Pucci Pink stripey dress is AWFUL!
ReplyDeleteI'll be honest, I thought I'd be bored reading yet another Met Ball round-up, but girl you had me in stitches with a very refreshing and original post! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYeah, MKO scared the bejesus outta me too! I saw much larger image yesterday morning and was like whoaaaa! There were some interesting outfits for sure, namely some of the ones above! I also thought Solange looked amazing in Yeloow with simple but awesome accessorizing.

Ha ha - I don't know how I'm just seeing your comment now, but thank you! I figured I'd add in a little snark to spice things up. ;)
ReplyDeleteI totally missed January Jones! Holy smokes she looks amazing.
