Models and editors have hopped the pond to London, but let's not forget about New York Fashion Week so quickly. Now that it's over and we've all had a few days to reflect, it's time to announce the winners of The Well-Appointed Catwalk NYFW Awards! And, since I'm running the show around here, you can be sure you're getting my 100% unqualified, non-professional opinion.
I really, really wanted my pick for the supreme award to be something less obvious, but Jack and Lazaro made that pretty much impossible. From the winter whites that opened the show to the Asian influence that closed and the amazing little wrap skirts in between, the show was perfect from start to finish.
Most Covetable Runner Up: Preen
Preen definitely wins for most covetable item in my book: those perfect, narrow trousers! Paired with cheery, Victorian botanical and butterfly prints, this collection is everything I want my fall wardrobe to be.
As always, the prints were strong at Diane von Furstenberg, but it was the solid color combinations that stole the show.
Menswear styling ruled at Donna Karan, where even the evening gowns were paired with mini Fedoras and turned up cuffs.
Don't you just want to reach out and touch it? Whether oiled, sueded, quilted or glazed, the contrasting leathers at Alexander Wang took center stage.
White or not, I would happily walk down the aisle in any of these. The last two give off a bit of a white swan/black swan vibe, don't they?
Having recently tied for the Fashion Group International's Rising Star Award, Wes Gordon's Fall collection is extremely wearable, yet just avant garde enough to make me smile.
So, what did I miss?
Great post! Thanks for the recap. I especially love the Preen and DVF collections.
