I came across Stefan Rurak's designs in the form of a cork tote trimmed in leather that he was selling at Brooklyn Flea. So I was a little taken aback when, instead of handbags, I found incredible reclaimed wood furniture on his website.
The devil is in the details for Rurak, who infuses his pieces with an element of surprise. Take the tiny gold horse protruding from his Stary Kon end table for example...
Or the hedonistic quote carved into the leather of his Dionysian Chair.
And I can't get over the beauty of his Skinny Table, with its little circular drawer tucked away in a birch branch.
I never did find that cork tote on Rurak's website, but I think these designs more than make up for it!
