Some Blogging Business
First off, a huge thank you to Blah Blah Becky for giving me the Stylish Blogger Award! I'm not terribly fond of writing about myself, and I hate choosing amongst all you lovely people, so I'm going to skip the whole award acceptance process and just say thank you instead.
Second, let's talk comments. I've considered a move to Disqus, but I've heard that some people lose comments when they make the switch. I like the idea of being able to respond to each individual with Disqus, but I'm not sure if the pros outweigh the cons. What have your experiences been? And, more importantly, how do you prefer to receive responses? Are you offended if I don't respond to comments on my blog but visit your blog instead?
And, finally, Tamara Nicole of Memory Bean Designs is hosting a Valentine's Swap! It's kind of like Secret Santa but with more chocolate hearts. I've signed up and can't wait to start picking out little gifts for my "Valentine." Because, really, what's better than a care package? Visit her blog to join in the fun.

I personally like when I leave a comment on a blog that they come and leave a comment on mine. I often forget to check back and see if someone has responded to my comment on their blog. Basically we're just supporting one another that way, right? Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI usually just reply on others' blogs, to see what they've posted. I sometimes comment back on my blog but find it weird since I don't have disqus either.
ReplyDeleteI think either way is fine!
I'm a bit forgetful, so i tend to reply/comment back on other blogger's who have left comments, but i do make a point of trying to answer back on mine if it's something they've questioned or thank them when i'm super busy, esp. if i don't get to make the rounds!
ReplyDeleteHave a top weekend poptart.

hmm i am thinking of moving out of blogger too but i wouldnt want to lose comments.
ReplyDeletegoing to see that valentines day thing!
enjoy your weekend! hope you made out well at the swap :)
It's hard, sometimes I go back to their blog to reply or I just reply back on my blog, but I am sure they don't always see it. I half started to try disqus but I think my issues with blogger go much deeper and I would need an entire overhaul and perhaps move to wordpress to accomplish all. Hope you made out well at the swap! I am so depressed I had to say late at work for a grant. And then had terrible take out for dinner. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate it if when I leave a comment on a post the blogger reciprocates (blogger ettiquete) and visits me to comment.
ReplyDeleteI follow so many sites I really don't have tome to go back to each blog once again so soon!
To brighten your day...

I thought about getting Disqus for a hot minute, too. Only a hot minute because well I was lazy and not sure if it was worth it. I feel the same way about comments, I try to respond to them on my site when I can, but also feel like no one really goes back to see it. But I want to not leave them hanging if they do actually check! Mostly I try to make the rounds to those that do comment because I DEFINITELY appreciate the comments. I know I don't always look back to see if someone responded to my comments on their site, but I always remember/recognize when a blogger leaves a comment on mine.
ReplyDeleteDoes Disqus automatically email the person when you respond to their comment specifically? If so, I think that might be worth it. If not, I don't know.
I recently switched to disqus and its much easier! I dont think I lost any comments... (hmmm)
ReplyDeleteI'm not offended when people respond on my blog I actually prefer it!(thats not a hint, ok? :))
also congrats on your award x
Congrats on the award! And thank you for your support with my contest. :)

First off, congrats on the award. About comments, I'm quite happy with the comments on Blogger. I don't go back to see if a blogger has replied to my comment or not but if I do happen to see a reply,it feels nice. I'm usually looking at the latest post on a blog so going back to earlier ones is something I have to remember to do.
ReplyDeleteI think Disqus is only useful insofar as other people use it as well. That way they see your replies without coming back to your blog. But for the rest of us that do not use disqus or have an account, I think the preferred method is to respond via email or on the commenters blog (or at least that's my preference). Oh btw, miss you!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the award, sweetie pie! I have to say that Im happy with the comments on blogger. I usually try to reply on my blog to all the questions or go back to the person and answer on thier blog. I pretty much do both:) Wish you a fantastic day, sweetie
ReplyDeleteHugs and kisses

ReplyDeleteI mostly reply on other people's blogs -- I kinda think it's nicer to visit them there :-)
