Zulekha Lakeca is a young British fashion illustrator I stumbled across when I was looking for information on Connie Lim. Sometimes, a wrong turn in Googleland takes you to a very right place.
This fashion design grad wanted to use everyday objects to create illustrations for her final project at Birmingham City University, and she went with collage, ink and Photoshop to create these hauntingly beautiful images. Zulekha says her collection is inspired by inner emotions and they way one dresses to express a particular mood.
What drew me Zulekha's work was the detail in each and every illustration, giving them a brocade-like appearance. Is it sacrilege to say the patterns remind me a bit of McQueen's final collection? She may not be producing these fantasy garments, but Zulekha's imagination speaks for itself.
These are amazing!
